FOUNDATION IN DANCE INSTRUCTION
A new and exciting addition to the school is the Foundation in Dance Instruction Course.
What is Foundation Dance Instruction and what will it qualify me to do?
The focus of the Foundation in Dance Instruction course is on the development of necessary evaluative and critical skills for teachers in relation to the Theatre Dance Association Graded Examinations up to and including Levels 1 and 2 of the Theatre Dance Qualifications Framework.
Through tutoring, the candidate develops an understanding of the concepts essential to teaching dance whilst being required to put these into practice in the studio.
The candidate maintains a portfolio of evidence of all units of the qualification which is moderated and standardized by the TDA prior to certification.
This qualification has been accredited by The Theatre Dance Association of South Africa.
Entry Requirements
The minimum age for candidates is 17 years within the academic year in which they are registered.
This qualification is aimed primarily at candidates of over 17 years of age who wish to prepare for the full Theatre Dance Association Certificate in Dance Education and become a teacher of dance.
How long is the course?
This course is run over a period of one academic year.
